The Ford Transporter as a scooter hauler/ Rally wagon

Postby papa johns » Tue Jan 19, 2010 11:26 pm

The new scooter Transporter By Ford. We took a close look at the new Ford Transporter with an eye for hauling scoots about. It is more then room enough for two Vespas and gear. I was not sure my Helix and Silverwing would fit without removing the windshield. They have removable back seats in the side window version and I'm sure that the Panel Van has mountings for seats. They have a lot of room inside. I think with a little Insulation and paneling and some craftiness one could make it a toy hauler and sleeping camper. Some canvas navy racks that fold down on each side. Economy and Utility. I think I'll Take some measurements.

I concur with Papa Johns that the Ford Transit Connect would make a sweet scooter hauler. It has a high ceiling and is rated 22 mpg City and 25 mpg Highway. Pricing begins in the low $20K. Info on the vehicle can be found at: http://www.popularmechanics.com/blogs/a ... 19682.html

I read a big article about these vans in the Wall Street Journal recently.

They are a BIG BIG hit in Europe and Ford can't import them to the US fast enough.
I've seen them and they are very very nice looking.
I am followed around by a flying bloated cow. I think it means me harm. Curse you Gary Larson !

We've had a Vanagon, an Astro, and a Safari the past few years. My kids hate vans now1
Great rally vehicles if you don't have an RV and a scooter trailer.

I like that Ford, on the Ford site, they have pictures of it decked out as a cab.
